PRP Vs Fillers

Aging is a natural process which cannot be prevented. With the increasing age, we tend to lose the charm and elegance of our skin. Our skin gradually becomes saggy, discolored, and unusually textured. But don't worry; we have solutions for all these problems. There are effective treatments to control these skin problems to a great extent. To get rid of the saggy, dull skin, Dermal fillers and PRP treatments are effective.

These two are injectables which can treat aging signs, saggy skin, strange skin texture, and other skin issues. But, there are certain differences in these two injectables which we should understand

PRP (Platelet- Rich Plasma) and Fillers

  • PRP is a natural product that can refresh and renew our skin. Platelet-rich plasma is derived from the patient's body for the treatment. A small amount of blood is taken from the patient's body and it is separated in a centrifuge. From that, platelet-rich plasma is obtained and injected into the targeted area.
  • Dermal fillers are not natural products, they are gel-based treatments injected into the skin. Dermal fillers are also safe and effective.

What do these treatments fix?

  • PRP is a rejuvenation treatment, stimulates the growth of collagen, regenerates the tissues and makes the skin firmer and smoother.

  • Dermal fillers can enhance the shallow contours and reconstruct the deformities in the face. It mainly helps to reduce the facial lines, restore volume and fullness in the face.

Check whether you are apt for these treatments

People with uneven skin tone, face lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation and sagging dull skin is recommended to go for PRP treatment. People with the sunken chin, thin lips, scars, wrinkles, and lifeless skin can opt for dermal fillers.

How long one needs to stay back from normal activities?

  • PRP treatment- It takes a very short time to heal. One can get back to normal activities within a day of the treatment. The patient may feel uneasiness like mild irritation, bruising, redness, and swelling, which disappears after a few days.
  • Dermal Fillers- Recovery time varies from person to person. Usually one can resume normal activities immediately after the treatment. But it is not recommended to do heavy physical activity for the first 24 hours to minimize side-effects. The patient may feel redness, itching, and rashes in the treated area, which vanishes within two weeks.

How long do the treatments last?

The results of the PRP treatment depend upon the number of treatments done. In most cases, the treatment lasts to up to 18 months and more.

The effects of dermal fillers are depended on the type and volume of the fillers used. Typically the dermal filler treatment lasts for about 8 to 12 months.
